A good read, Thanks! In the Netherlands we had to deal with more ore less the same circumstances. Storms in Februari, fallen trees, heat in spring and summer and late flowering; especially the dahlias were very late this year. Nice to know you struggled too! Love to hear about the dead hedge. Thanks again.
thank you for reading this Margriet. Yes, the dead hedge has become a great little hobby... as the materials are all stacked dry we did get a little nervous when temperatures rose in case of fire.. :-/ but hopefully it will become a great habitat for wildlife.
I found this very interesting , how you fitted all of your planned work on the gardens , pond , hedges etc is amazing. Very sad to hear those beautiful trees didn’t make it . But they to are still on the land in a different form. I’m interested to know are those 100 trees or more on your land and adjoining farm or all on your land ? It must be a wonderful sight. Beautiful flowers , illustrations are stunning.
So lovely to read about your year in the garden. What a shame that you lost those beautiful trees in the winds, but great to hear that you managed to put the wood to good use. Our old mulberry tree came down during storm Eunice too (we’re hoping to make some fencing with the fallen wood).
Fingers crossed for more of those beautiful frosts over the coming weeks.
thanks Tom & Kathy, appreciate you taking the time to read this. How sad to have lost such a lovely Mulberry - a tree high up on our wish list! Good to hear nothing goes to waste at yours too - looking forward to following your journey
